Brazil & Clay City

A stop on the National Heritage Road, Clay
County has historical significance beyond West
Central Indiana. Taking advantage of
the increased visitor population in West Central
Indiana, Brazil is looking to find ways they can
offer visitors an opportunity to enjoy the Mayberry-type atmosphere. With new downtown
lights, growing boutique businesses, and its
commitment to their local high school education
and sports teams, Clay County is home to those
who have a great appreciation for its small-town
offerings. Although we knew Indiana’s rural communities had a lot to offer, we learned even more
about the way people want to live in 2020, during
the hardest time in the pandemic. Understanding people are looking for a way to have their
own space, utilize nature for adventure, and have
more family interaction, it’s places like Brazil that
people are looking to live and take advantage of
what living in rural Indiana is all about.

Just a few miles down the road, Clay City is also
known for its small-town appeal. Glory Days, a
dining dives destination for many across the
state, offers a 1950s scene with good food, bikers,
antique cars, and the best root beer floats in the
Midwest. Have you heard of the Feline Rescue
Center? The facility is located between Brazil
and Clay City, caring for exotic felines. On some
quiet evenings, residents can hear the felines
and experience some of nature’s unique beauty.
The facility attracts thousands of visitors a year
and touts educational experiences for all ages.
Although Clay City might only be home to just
over 800 residents, its educational foundation is
set to help transform students into Indiana grown
technicians, skilled laborers, entrepreneurs, and
professional career seekers. At the heart of Clay
City is community.
