How Regional Collaboration Took Root

West Central Indiana has long been defined by strong local leadership and community pride. Over time, leaders across Clay, Parke, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties recognized that many of the region’s greatest opportunities, and challenges, extended beyond individual county lines.

The formation of regional partnerships and the development of the West Central Indiana Regional Plan marked a pivotal step forward. Through broad stakeholder engagement, data-driven research and coordinated strategy, the region created a shared roadmap for economic growth, infrastructure investment, workforce development, housing expansion and quality-of-life improvements.

Supported by state partnerships and initiatives such as READI and GIFT VIII, the region moved from vision to action, securing funding, launching projects and strengthening collaboration across organizations including:

Regionalism is no longer an emerging concept in West Central Indiana. It is a proven strategy for building a stronger future.

WE ARE WEST CENTRAL BRAND

West Central Indiana is full of strong communities, thriving businesses, outstanding educational institutions and people who care deeply about where they live. The "We Are West Central Indiana" brand was created to unite those stories under one shared identity, not to replace local communities, but to strengthen our collective voice. Together, we can better showcase the region's strengths, attract new opportunities and tell our story on our own terms. We are one region, proud of who we are and ready to grow.
