Sullivan Park & Lake Economic Impact Study

The Sullivan Lake Economic Impact Study examines the lake’s role as one of Sullivan County’s most important natural, recreational and economic assets. Grounded in public input, survey data and economic analysis, the study highlights how Lake Sullivan supports tourism, local businesses, property values and overall quality of life while also identifying the growing challenges caused by long-term sediment buildup and declining water quality.

The report positions dredging and lake restoration as key steps toward protecting and strengthening Lake Sullivan’s long-term value to the community. In addition to outlining the lake’s current economic impact, the study recommends continued investment in infrastructure, public engagement, community collaboration and recreational amenities to enhance the visitor experience, support local growth and sustain the lake as a regional destination for years to come.

The plan also aligns with state and regional initiatives like READI, leveraging partnerships to secure funding for shovel-ready projects that can drive economic growth and community development. By addressing challenges head-on and maximizing its strengths, Clay County is positioned to foster a resilient, vibrant community with opportunities for all.
