Clay County Receives $400K Environmental Protection Agency Grant for Brownfield Cleanup

The Environmental Protection Agency has selected Clay County to receive $400,000 in total funding as one of 193 Brownfields Multipurpose, Assessment and Cleanup Grant programs for 2026. The grant was submitted by Clay County Commissioners in January. The money will go toward assessing hazardous substances and petroleum with the goal of eventual revitalization and redevelopment of the assessed sites. If there is remaining grant funding, the county will request feedback on additional sites for prioritization by social media and public meetings.
